Motor neurone disease (MND) causes muscle weakness that gets worse over a few months or years.
It’s usually life-shortening and there’s currently no cure, but treatment can help manage the symptoms. In the UK, there are approximately 5,000 adults living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) at any given time.
Around 6 people are diagnosed with MND every day, according to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This figure suprised me and makes it even more improtant to help @motor neur
The disease affects people of all ages, but it is more common in those over 50. A person’s lifetime risk of developing MND is around 1 in 300. π
While it’s not definitively proven that Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is becoming more common, research suggests a possible increase in cases, particularly among certain demographics and with potential links to lifestyle and environmental factors.
